Due to a retirement, we have the opportunity to search for a new Depot Manager to join our Clayhills Depot team in Aberdeen. This role is an integral part of the operational strategy for LNER to ensure that all 3rd party trains, our current fleet & our brand new sparkly AZUMA’s are maintained, serviced & cleaned to exceed our high customer expectations.
You’ll own the Depot strategy, having the vision & thinking to align it with the wider business priorities, whilst ensuring that the depot team understand key objectives & are all bought into this vision & understand where & how valid their contribution is.
Your expert influence & relationship building experience will allow you to engage, challenge & persuade key stakeholders across the business, from Engineering to Fleet Delivery & Customer Experience. Promoting new ways of working, managing, planning and controlling the safe and reliable maintenance of the trains at Clayhills, along with the provision of professional safety, quality and environmental assurance systems and support for the depot.
A capable manager of people and authentic leader of the depot team, you’ll lead, motivate and manage the organisation such that staff are competent and productive, ensuring that the appropriate performance management, communication, recruitment, training and development tools are used.
This will be achieved through your leadership style and set behaviours that motivate and engage your team to achieve targets & contribute to the development of a positive leadership culture within the business. Ensuring quality of service is improved through cultural change and organisational development whilst delivering demanding cost targets.
Finally, you’ll be an experience budget holder with the ability to make key, business critical decisions that will impact on culture change & ensure we provide the exceptional service our customers expect.
Of course, with this being such an important role within the business, there are a few “must haves”...
We’d love you to have a technical or engineering background, with experience in financial control & people leadership.
Due to the nature of this role we are looking to a good level of railway or depot knowledge, backed up by a railway engineering qualification. This will bring with it technical expertise of RGS & associated railway technical engineering expertise.
A working knowledge or qualification in a continuous improvement methodology (Lean, Six Sigma, TPS etc.) would be a desirable quality you could offer.
You’ll have an uncompromising focus on safety, setting & expecting the highest safety, quality & environmental standards from your team.
Finally, you’ll have a strong focus on organisational & cultural development to continue to good work already underway at our Clayhills Depot.
